Snow Forecast

2/29/2012

It is snowing heavily across the entire Metro area, current accumulations of 2.5 inches in the south and over 5-6 inches in the north Metro.  The snow has been falling at 1-1.5 inches per hour in most areas of the metro since 3-4 am.  Our latest weather is keeping the heavy snow accumulations going for at least another 2-3 hours.

We have serviced all locations, but the heavy snow is accumulating very quickly, we will continue to go through properties throughout the event, but we will shift our concentrations to drive lanes, loading docks, entrances, and other key areas as the properties begin to fill with traffic.  Your patience is appreciated.

It will be a slushy, snowy rush hour Wednesday morning with very difficult driving conditions.  The snow is very wet and slushy and as it is plowed and shoveled, it tends to runs back into the newly cleared are and the additional heavy snow is filling in the plowed areas quickly. It will be a very difficult snow to clean up and will take multiple trips as the snow continues to accumulate.  We have been servicing sites since early morning and we will be on all locations into the afternoon and do a complete cleanup tonight.

We will update this email in a few hours.

Please call the office at 952-888-0222 with any service requests or questions.

Snow has increased in intensity and possible accumulations over the morning hours.

Snow Forecast

2/29/2012

The mixed rain/sleet/snow is changing over to heavy snow now. Earlier change over means much more snow. Dry slot to the south may give us a break for a couple hours this morning in the south metro. Otherwise, far northwest metro may continue with up to 6” inches. The rest of us will seen from 2-5” inches from north to south through 6pm and then fully ending as flurries near 9pm.

It will be a slushy, snowy rush hour Wednesday morning with very difficult driving conditions.  The snow is very wet and slushy and as it is plowed and shoveled, it runs back into the newly cleared area. It will be a very difficult snow to clean up and will take multiple trips as the snow continues to fall.  We have been servicing sites since early morning and we will be on all locations into the afternoon. It will be snowing heavy into and through the rush hour and the commute will be very difficult.

This storm is obviously very difficult to predict, we have all crews on sites, including extra equipment brought in for this storm. We will continue servicing locations as the snow accumulates throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

We will update this email in a few hours.

Please call the office at 952-888-0222 with any service requests or questions.

Evening storm update

Image002

Snow Forecast

2/28/2012

The evening precipitation will be mainly rain and some sleet over the next 4-5 hours. The temperatures should remain above freezing and the temperatures should increase overnight. There is a strong a chance for accumulating snow in the early morning hours and into Wednesday morning.  It could be a slushy, snowy rush hour Wednesday morning.

We are still seeing the potential for 1-3” of wet heavy snow over the Metro area into Wednesday; we are prepared if icy conditions develop Tuesday night.  The north metro will still receive the higher totals.  The heaviest band of snow, 6-12” and greater, are tracking north and west of the Twin Cities.

This storm is obviously very difficult to predict, and we are prepared for all contingencies.

We have all crews on call, including our de-icing equipment, plows, and shovel team.  We will be tracking the storm in all areas and services as triggers, specifications, and slippery conditions occur.

Snow total potential decreasing, mix of rain, sleet, snow, and freezing rain in the next 24 hours.

Snow Forecast

2/28/2012

The latest models have increased the amount of rain/sleet predicted versus total snow accumulations in the Twin Cities metro area.  There could be minor accumulating snow in the morning into the early afternoon turning into rain, sleet, and possible freezing rain into the evening turning back to snow in the early morning on Wednesday.  It is currently snowing north and west of the metro in Buffalo and St. Michael.

We are still seeing the potential for 2-5”+ of wet heavy snow over the Metro area by Wednesday morning; there could also be icy conditions Tuesday afternoon and evening as temperatures are at or near freezing with significant precipitation.  The north metro will receive the higher totals.  The heaviest band of snow, 6-12” and greater, appear to be tracking north and west of the Twin Cities, however any shift in the track could increase or decrease the totals in the Metro area.

Due to the variance and uncertainty in the forecast, Reliable has arranged for at 15-20 pieces of extra plowing equipment (mainly loaders, tractors and skid steers), and we are bringing in extra shoveling crews, equipment, and materials.

We have all crews on call, including our de-icing equipment, plows, and shovel team.  We will be tracking the storm in all areas and services as triggers, specifications, and slippery conditions occur.

Please call the office at 952-888-0222 with any service requests or questions.

Snow Forecast

2/27/2012

We have received a number of requests for a weather update for the next few days.  There is a wide variance from our weather services; all models agree that there will be significant moisture falling across the Twin Cities and areas north and west.  The big question is the amount of rain/sleet vs. the amount of snow.

A number of models are showing significant rain and sleet Tuesday evening turning to all snow by Wednesday morning; this could reduce the amount of snow in the Metro Area.  The accumulation could be significantly higher in the north metro than the south.

We are still seeing the potential for 4-8”+ of wet heavy snow over the Metro area by Wednesday morning; there could also be icy conditions Tuesday afternoon and evening as temperatures are at or near freezing.  The heaviest band of snow, 12” and greater, appear to be tracking north and west of the Twin Cities, however any shift in the track could increase or decrease the totals in the Metro area.

Due to the variance and uncertainty in the forecast, Reliable has arranged for at 15-20 pieces of extra plowing equipment (mainly loaders, tractors and skid steers), and we are bringing in extra shoveling crews, equipment, and materials.

At this point, the precipitation will start sometime Tuesday late morning.  We will update the information this evening and Tuesday morning as the storm track is easier to define.

Snow Forecast and Service Plan

2/21/2012

The snow is starting to wind up; it is still snowing lightly in the east metro and snow was falling across the entire metro until 4 am.  There is 2-4 inches across the Twin Cities metro area, with 3+ inches as the norm across the area.  The winds have created some additional drifting on the North sides of the buildings even with the wet, heavy snowfall.

We have crews and equipment out since 1-2 am plowing, shoveling, and de-icing all properties; we will continue to have crews out into the late morning cleaning up properties especially as the city plows are dumping the snow back into the entrances.
